Let Brentwood Dental Spa Bring Your Smile to Life

A smile is your passport to a lasting first impression for the people that you meet. Some people are unhappy with their smiles because they have too much space between their natural teeth. They may feel self-conscious about stained teeth or other cosmetic imperfections in their smile.
Dental veneers can help alleviate this nervousness about a smile. You will sometimes hear them called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates. With these marvelous aides, your dentist can change the color, size, shape, or length of your teeth to give you the smile you wanted for so long.
Dental veneers are paper-thin shells most often made from porcelain or a resin composite material. Your dentist bonds these shells to the front of the teeth to improve the look of your natural teeth.
Patients often choose veneers to modify natural tooth discoloration due to:

  • Root canal procedures;
  • Various medications, such as tetracycline;
  • Large resin fillings; or
  • Too much fluoride.

Veneers make cosmetic changes to teeth that are:

  • Worn down,
  • Chipped or broken,
  • Oddly shaped or size teeth, and
  • Odd spacing between teeth.

The following paragraphs describe the different types of veneers, the process, and the benefits of choosing this smile-altering process.

What Is the Veneer Process?

There are three steps to obtaining veneers.

1. Schedule an appointment with the Brentwood Dental Spa in either Los Angeles or Brentwood. This first appointment is a consultation to determine your suitability for veneers, the best way forward, and the type of veneer that would be best for your situation. If you decide to proceed, the dental staff will take x-rays and dental impressions of your teeth. The dentist will shape your tooth for the veneer.
2.This is the step in which the fabricator will make your veneers. It can take up to 4 weeks for the veneers to come back from the dental lab. While you are waiting, you will have temporary veneers for cosmetic purposes.
3.This is the step in which the dentist will apply the veneers to your teeth. After your dentist is satisfied that the veneers match the color selected and the shape desired, they will cement the veneers to your natural teeth.

The veneer process can apply to one tooth or several teeth simultaneously.

What Should You Know About Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are better at repelling stains than veneers made from the resin composite. Porcelain veneers look more like natural teeth because they react in much the same way to light as natural teeth do. The dentist can match the color of your teeth to the whiteness desired or to the remaining teeth if only a partial veneer is selected. Most patients gums tolerate porcelain veneers well.
Porcelain veneers do not require as much shaping as crowns, but the surfaces are hard and look more natural. The great thing about veneers is that they do not require any specialized care after application. You only need regular, good hygiene practices like brushing and flossing and antiseptic mouthwash.

What About Composite Resin Veneers?

The process for composite resin veneers is a little different. The dentist applies the resin in layers to the tooth and all the sculpting is done in the mouth to achieve the desired effect. Composite resin veneers are used in cases where the teeth are discolored, chipped, or misaligned. In composite resin veneers, the tooth structure is preserved. The biggest difference is that the composite resin layers can be undone and replaced as needed.

What’s the Difference With Lumineers?

umineers do not require much tooth preparation, and they just go over your teeth. That means no temporary veneers and no long dental appointments shaping your natural teeth. Lumineers requires a visit to a Certified Lumineers Dentist like Brentwood Dental Spa for a consultation. If you decide to go ahead, the dentist takes an impression of your natural teeth and sends it to the lumineers lab in California that makes the veneers. When the veneers deliver to your dentist, you will return for an appointment to apply the veneers to your teeth.
Lumineers are strong and not likely to pop off. The process is faster and reversible if you want to remove them.
